radiation and use them as an elementary switching unit (a qubit) in a quantum computer. We research and develop this system and thus prepare the basis for novel types of scalable quantum computers. In the Faculty IV: School of Science and Technology, Experimental Quantum Optics, we are looking for a researcher as soon as possible at the following conditions:100 39, 83 hours Pay grade 13 TV-L limited the duration of 2 years Your tasks:Your research activities will focus on novel approaches and methods for quantum computers with trapped ions. Your tasks include:Responsible planning, simulation and construction of innovative experimental apparatuses Preparing and carrying out experiments with trapped ions, data analysis, and publishing scientific results Guidance of other scientists in the team [...] International publications and participation in academic exchange (conferences, reviews, research reports, etc. ) Experience in one or more of the following areas is desired: experimental quantum optics with atoms, molecules or solid-state based systems, quantum information processing, laser spectroscopy and-cooling,
