Director and liaise closely with appropriate key staff at NYU. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES Student Programming Communications (40) Co-design orientation and manage orientation activities. Design and manage student programming, including campus events, site visits, and overnight learning journeys. Serve as a chaperone and designate other NYU Berlin staff to chaperone programs. Manage the implementation of special events that are designed in collaboration with NYU Berlin staff, NYU Global Programs staff, NYU Student Affairs departments (e. g. , Center for Multicultural Education and Programs (CMEP) and LGBTQ+ Center) and the Office of Global Inclusion (OGI) . In collaboration with the site director, develop partnerships with local communities and organizations to connect learning at NYU Berlin with sustainable, positive change in the city. Liaise closely, wherever appropriate, with the NYU Global office and particularly the Assistant Vice President Student Services and Support to ensure the continuous quality improvement of services and
compliance with NYU policies and procedures. Coordinate ongoing student evaluation of the non-academic experience and provide opportunities for feedback. Liaise closely with Director of NYU Berlin to coordinate information about on-site student life services and implementation of support to short-term programs. Assist the Site Director in planning the annual student life budget. Manage relationships with local police, health care providers, and other external agencies. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS Required Education Successful completion of a Masters degree. Required Experience A minimum of five years relevant experience within student activities, residential education and student life. Evidence of high-quality leadership skills and staff supervision. Experience in designing meaningful, relevant, and accessible programming for diverse student cohorts. Experience in emergency response. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Fluency [...] in Berlin while earning credits towards their degree. The program is fully integrated into NYUs curriculum and designed for BA students in the social sciences, arts and humanities who want to earn credit in their major-including art, art history, drama,
environmental studies, European studies, German, history, math, music, politics, psychology, and sociology-while having a transformative experience abroad. Most courses are taught in English. Seminars and lectures take place at the academic center located within the complex of the Kulturbrauerei in Prenzlauer Berg and at NYU Berlins art and drama studio in Kreuzberg. The program size is 100 students per semester, as well as various January and summer programs.
